Tile Siege
Game created for the LittleDoctorGames game jam number 2, Swords and Sorcery.
This ended up being far more complicated of an idea than I was expecting, and had to cut back on the design a lot. What's there is a minimum viable prototype, which I would like to expand on in the future. Just glad to have something I could submit before the deadline!
The game is loosely inspired by Mahjong, so if you know how to score hands in that game you'll have a head start.
Instructions:
You are in charge of a castle siege, and must choose the best strategies to attack the castle and win the siege before winter pushes you back.
Each month you will be given four supply crates from which you must choose a tile to swap into your hand. There are 3 suits of tiles labeled 1-9: knights, spells, and supplies. Knights and spells will combo to do damage, and supplies will give you extra crates for the next month, along with any you didn't use. There are also two special tiles: seasons and dragons. Seasons will provide multipliers and dragons provide large damage.
Combos:
- All tiles but dragons can combo in a 3 tile runs, eg 1-2-3, 5-6-7, etc. Runs don't wrap around, so 9-1-2 is not valid for example.
- All tiles can combo in triplets or quads of the same suit, eg 3 green dragons, 4 #2 knight tiles.
Strategy details:
- There are 4 copies of every single tile, and unused/discarded tiles will only be shuffled when the season changes.
- If you do not use all your supply crates in one month, ie attack early, they are carried over into the next month.
